Each year, recovery advocates, service providers, families, and community leaders from across the state gather on the Capitol lawn in Lansing for one powerful reason: to unite and face addiction together. This event is called UFAM – Uniting to Face Addiction Michigan – and it’s one of the most important days of the year for Michigan’s recovery community.
What is UFAM?
UFAM is more than just a rally — it’s a movement. It’s a statewide event that brings together people impacted by substance use disorder to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and advocate for real change. The day is filled with powerful testimonials, inspiring speakers, live music, resource booths, and an overwhelming sense of solidarity. Whether you’re in long-term recovery, just beginning the journey, or supporting someone who is, UFAM reminds us: we are not alone — and together, we are stronger.
Why UFAM Matters
Addiction still carries a heavy stigma, and far too many people suffer in silence. UFAM shines a light on recovery and sends a message loud and clear: Recovery is not only possible — it’s happening every single day. This event gives voice to those who often feel voiceless, and it helps connect people to the resources, hope, and support they need.
UFAM also plays a crucial role in advocacy. It’s a chance for us to speak directly to policymakers and the public about what’s working, what’s missing, and how we can better support individuals and families affected by addiction.
Our Time at UFAM 2025
This year’s UFAM was absolutely incredible. The sun was shining, the crowd was buzzing with energy, and we were honored to be part of it all.
Some of our favorite moments from this year:
-
Listening to courageous speakers share their recovery journeys — stories of loss, resilience, healing, and hope.
-
Cheering alongside hundreds of others during the recovery march around the Capitol grounds.
-
Chatting with other organizations and learning about the amazing work happening across Michigan.
-
Handing out and getting materials, giving hugs, and laughing with folks who remind us exactly why we do this work.
There’s something incredibly powerful about standing shoulder to shoulder with so many people who believe in second chances, in healing, and in the beauty of recovery. UFAM is a yearly reminder that we are part of something much bigger — a movement that is saving lives and changing the future.
Until Next Year
As we reflect on our time at UFAM 2025, our hearts are full and our commitment is renewed. We’ll keep fighting for access, equity, and support in recovery — not just on this one day, but all year long.
Thank you to everyone who made this event unforgettable. We can’t wait to see you all again next year. Until then, keep showing up, speaking out, and supporting one another. 💙
